The World Comes

Each New Year's Day, the Rose Parade rolls down Colorado Boulevard — the very street La Casa Inn calls home — with the route's grand finale just blocks from our door. Then all eyes turn to the Rose Bowl Game, minutes away. For one spectacular week, Pasadena becomes the center of the world, and we have the best seat in the house.
Rooms for Rose Parade week are our most requested of the year — and they go early.

La Casa Inn began its life in 1961 as a Hyatt Chalet — part of a short-lived and now much-loved chapter of American roadside hospitality. Its signature A-frame lobby, crowned with colorful diamond windows, was designed to catch the eye of travelers cruising Route 66 through Pasadena.
More than sixty years later, the A-frame still stands — one of the last of its kind in Southern California. The stained-glass panels still glow at night, welcoming guests just as they did when tailfins filled the parking lot.
Today, La Casa Inn remains proudly independent: a genuine piece of mid-century California, minutes from Old Town, the Rose Bowl, and Caltech — where every stay comes with a little history included.

The Backlot on Route 66
Some locations have to be dressed to look like the past. La Casa Inn simply is the past — a 1961 A-frame with stained-glass diamonds, an open-air courtyard, and a pool straight out of a Slim Aarons photograph. That's why location scouts keep finding their way to East Colorado Boulevard, and why our little corner of Pasadena has appeared in feature films, network dramas, streaming series, daytime television, and national commercials.

For his directorial debut, Chris Pine turned our courtyard and pool into the sun-bleached Los Angeles of Darren Barrenman — writing, directing, and starring in scenes shot right here at the inn. For a few weeks, the A-frame traded overnight guests for camera cranes.
